Melissa M. Chan is currently a graduate student in the department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in English in 2009. Her current research interests are diasporic Chinese populations, film, and translation.
The Unofficial Spiel:
My name is Melissa or some call me Mel because two syllable names are too long. I completed my undergraduate degree in English in 2009 at the University of California, Irvine. I, then, spent two years in South Korea teaching English as a second language and attending Masters courses at Seoul National University in the Chinese Language and Literature department. I've traveled to China, Japan, and various parts of SK while on that side of the world. I came back to the states in 2011, and I'm a current Masters student at the University of California, Santa Barbara studying contemporary Chinese literature and China's relations with diasporic Chinese populations.
WHY CHINA? I don't know either. I just find it interesting.
Those are the basics, I suppose. The fun stuff is next.
I love to eat (and drink). Eating do I love. I think it is my only true passion, besides writing like the crazy person I am. I also like to take pictures to document my life, but I've been failing on that because nice cameras are huge and hard to handle (so are a lot of other things...) on a daily basis.
BOYS. I like. Very much, but they don't seem to like me back. WHY!? I am told it is because I have a fear of commitment and that I don't open up...and I will have to agree.
I have crazy drinking habits. Tequila suicide being one of many. I feel sorry for the friends who have had to deal with me in my craziness.
I am addicted to chocolate...wait this is suppose to be under my food obsession mini-paragraph isn't it?
ANYWHO. Hugs and no kisses because I don't want herpes. But that doesn't mean I don't love you as much as the people I do kiss. Or we could start licking faces because that would not be weird at all. Can you get herpes from licking faces? I was always curious about that... HEARTS <3 <3 <3
