Video: Turned off the TV- LeeSsang

LeeSsang: Turned off the TV (ft. Tasha, Gwon Jeongyeol of 10cm)
리쌍- TV를껐네 (ft. t윤미래, 권정열십센치)

I have been obsessed with this song recently. The video is very interesting, and the clouds look like rolled up toilet paper.  Despite my bitterness towards relationships during the majority of my waking hours, I do wish that sometimes (JUST SOMETIMES) I had someone to turn the TV off for me.

Random Thoughts: Top Traffic Source

I want to be blog famous one day. Like Annietown.com. She is fab. Her book (which I have on my kindle, is pretty hilarious and awesome). In order to be blog famous, I rely on the people who read my sad poor little blog, and according to blogger.com my top source of traffic is NAVER.COM! HOORAY KOREA! 대한민국  짝짝 짝짝짝~ You know, like the clapping they have during the World Cup for soccer. I STILL HAVE MY REDS T-SHIRT, that I hug to sleep every night. So I just want to say Thankies! You guys are awesome!

Also to my other readers, you guys are awesome as well. I have just never been to Malaysia so I don't know any fun cultural references. BUT you guys are still awesome.
America. You know I love you.
Other places (except CHINA because I only have one view from CHINA, EH-HEM, CHINA), I love you guys too.

I'm in a I'm loving everyone and not hating anyone kind of mood today.

LOVE YOU. and THANK YOU. <3 har har har

Random Thoughts: What I really need.

It has been a long time. I am busy gearing up for school, which technically started today, but I start on Monday. I met one of the Chinese teachers today, and she was with another Chinese teacher (because you know Chinese people travel in flocks, like fluffy sheep) having tea. After talking briefly about a Chinese class I probably wouldn't be able to get into because it is full, I realized what I really need in life is a tea drinking buddy.

Now, I love tea (and drinking), but I hate going out to drink tea all the time. The ideal situation would be that I would be tied to a ridiculously rich man who was never home but still supported my culinary/clothing/luxury items habit, and I would have tons of free time. So basically, I would be a Chinese concubine (or a qinfu hahahahah) because I don't actually want to get married. Since the laogong (literally: old man) wouldn't be home, I would have a friend come over to my house for tea and snacks on a daily basis. If I didn't have any delicious tea that day and my (gay, straight, male, female, transgender, transvestite, asexual, bisexual, or whatever floats your boat yo because I love everyone, but hate everyone at the same time) friend didn't have proper tea at their house (which would preferably within a 30minute drive or my glorious castle) we would go out to Larchmont or Pasadena to buy more delicious things to eat and drink.

ANY TAKERS YO??? Old man and tea friend positions are open! The position of ME unfortunately is not open for auditions because no one is qualified enough to be me except me.

Some may ask, "Don't you have friends?" Yes. Yes, I do, but they are all far far away right now. Or mayber, I am the one far far away.

Places: In-n-Out

What can a vegetarian eat at In-N-Out, aka the best fast food ever? GRILLED CHEESE. FRIED. CHEESE. They only have In-N-Out in CA and NV I think. That's what my office husband tells me. British cousin loves it! If you ever come to California, GO TO IN-N-OUT. SO DELICIOUS!!!!!

Places: The Counter in Pasadena

Went to The Counter in Pasadena with British cousin and friendies. We split the fries/ sweet potato fries. I appreciated their shoe stringy like quality. I had the veggie burger bowl (I love bowls, taco bowls from CHIPOTLE AKA THE BEST AND MOST WONDERFUL FAST FOOD EVER). For the set price you get to choose what you want from each list (if you want extras, they list the price added on the side). I had the organic greens, veggie patty, sharp provolone, olives, jalapenos, sun dried tomato vinaigrette, and pickles. The ingredients were FRESH, and the only worry we had was if the combinations we picked would work together or not. IT WORKED. Service was friendly, but I felt like I had to be really friendly back. All in all super duper duper duper. BECAUSE BOWLS ARE THE WAY TO GO. GO. GO.

Recipes: Vegetarian Dim Sum

I really like dim sum, but being a vegetarian, there are not many options. The only restaurant I know of that serves all veggie dim sum is Fine Garden in Rosemead. At regular dim sum places they have veggie things, but most of them are sweet pineapple, custard, or taro buns that are baked or steamed. You also get funny looks at regular dim sum places...after all, they are probably thinking "Why don't you eat meat? It is so DELICIOUS?" But who am I to read minds. It's an invasion of privacy.

SOOOO....I made vegetarian dim sum at home. Note: These are not vegan friendly, but the egg white can be left out to be made vegan friendly. Actually, I only added the egg white because Mama Chan said so, and I don't think it was necessary.

Vegetarian Dim Sum

Shu Mai wrappers (The one I use has a pink and clear plastic cover that sports a happy looking panda)

Shark fin melon (steamed and squeezed to be a dry as possible, can also be left out, but it gives it a nice texture)

Chinese celery stems (can be replaced with cilantro leaves AND stems, washed and chopped)

Vegetarian meat paste (chinese markets have this, if you can't find it replace it with tofu and some seasoning for flavor)

Vege shrimp (diced)

A large spoonful of cornstarch (about 1-2 tablespoons depending on how watery you ingredients look)

1 egg white

Mix everything together, minus the Shu Mai wrappers. Season with salt and white pepper to taste. If it is reallllllly watery, then strain out the excess fluid ( Save it, it makes for a great soup flavoring). Wrap it up and brush it with oil if you want it to look nice, and steam it for about 20-30 minutes. Honestly, it doesn't matter how you wrap it, but it looks nice with an open top so people can see whats inside like regular shu mai.

HAR HAR HAR. Good luck. Took me ages to perfect the recipe. Enjoy it!

xoxo

Places: Balboa Park in San Diego

Went to Balboa Park in San Diego with the sister. Hiked for an hour and an half. Tons of fun fun fun. A little warm, but saw a lot of fun things. IT IS FREE! the museums are not though. It is a long long long drive from LA. A two hour drive.
A lot of nice architecture to see, although I don't know if it is authentic or not. If you have time to stop by, why not?

Places: Fine Garden in San Gabriel Valley/ LA

In the SGV area, there are a lot of Chinese vegetarian restaurants, but this one is by far my favorite because there are two AWESOME things: almond tea (top) and vegetarian dimsum (素点心). There is almost no such thing as vegetarian dimsum, but this place has it. The almond tea is super duper too. They basically put a puff pastry on top of almond tea and bake it. Puff pastry and almond tea, nothing can go wrong. There are only two words that can describe this place: 好帮。 The only down side is that it is PRICEY. A bit for Chinese food.

EAT IT. IT IS DELICIOUS.

Gardening: Chili and Basil

Chili, sweet basic, and thai basil from my garden. All natural and organic yo! Hahahahaha My mission to become self sustaining is slow but progressive! I need more land to plant things. I started to plant onions, different varieties of chilies, and garlic. Hopefully, they all grow. The tomato and zucchini  seem to be kind of major fails, probably because I planted them too late in the season.

Life goal: Survive by farming on three acres of land.

Video: Moves Like Jagger

FINALLYYYYYY!!!! This video has three things that I very much enjoy: Maroon 5, LA, and British accents.
Can you move like Jagger? I hope so. I like to believe I have moves like Jagger despite the fact that people have mentioned otherwise.  <3

Random Thoughts: The Nonexistent Children of My Own

I don't particular like children. The thought of having my own kids scares the beegeesus out of me. You get fat and bloated. You can't see your own feet due to your bloated state, and you put on two mismatched shoes wearing your moo-moo Hawaiian dress. That look is everything I am against.
I taught kids, a lot of kids. They're adorable, but I could not spend more than an hour a day with the little monsters. Plus, kids in classrooms are much different than kids at a house.

This is a conversation I had with MaMa Chan, who was an advocate for grandbabies coming out of my belly.

MaMa Chan: We need a farm. I want to separate the dragon fruit tree.
Me: When are we going to have fruit?
MaMa Chan: After it groes this big. (Spreads arms outward)
Me: You won't be able to eat the fruit.
MaMa Chan: I'm planning for the future generation.
Me: There won't be a future generation.
MaMa Chan: Fine, then. BE THAT WAY.

It seems we are settled. No babies from my belly.

Dim Sum+ Egg Tarts= Delicious + Notes

Dim sum is awesome. Egg tarts are awesome. I have no idea what's in them, but they are awesome. Sadly, I learned that my body hates carbohydrates because I gained two pounds from eating dimsum, which is for a vegetarian like me, all carbohydrates.

On another note, I volunteered at Tzu Chi. It's pretty fun, and I get to practice a lot of Chinese. WOOOHOOO.

Next notes: RIP Amy Winehouse. I really liked your song, "Rehab." also RIP the victims of the Norway massacre and bombing. The NYtimes says there are at least 80 dead. May you all rest in peace. All of you left us too soon, but I hope you can find peace.
I read that the gunman/bomber laughed while he shot the young people, and he was cited to be an extremist. This incident reminds me that we need the entire world to strive for tolerance, respect, and love. There's just not enough in the world.

sisters

Sisters are awesome, and this one is especially awesome. Those are Louie Bottega macaroons. The blue one is earl grey flavored, and the green is pistachio.

This is my lousy dog.

That's what he does all day. He sleeps, and he snores like a little blender. Sometimes, I want to toss him into a blender.

I am making 落泊糕。 I will post up pictures later.

When will the Maroon 5 Moves Like Jagger music video come out?!?!?!?

Random thoughts: Some People pt 2

So I think lots of people are idiots. I know I'm not the brightest of the bunch, but I know there are people dumber than me. How do I know this? I read facebook. Even though you are friends with someone on facebook, it doesn't mean that you are really friends with them. You might have been friends with them for a semester in college, but then you guys had a different class schedule. You never talked again, and then you realized you became two completely different people. The interests you used to have changed, and their interest changed as well. That's enough with that. This section cut short= there are idiots I am friends with on facebook.
Now, what makes them idiots? If you know me at all., the thing that irritates me to no end is when people try to sound elitist educated or poetic. Fake poets suck because they are fake. They think that poetry is just a matter of using the longest words they know to describe some naturalist scenery in front of them. I suppose I am being elitist educational by pointing these people out, but I am a hypocrite. Oh well, DEAL WITH IT. The worse fake poets are the ones who claimed they didn't like to study, and then they act like they know about the nuances of the words they use. DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THE CONNOTATIONS AND DENOTATIONS OF A WORD? IS IT THAT DIFFICULT TO SAY WHAT IS ON YOUR MIND WITHOUT USING THESAURUS.COM? DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT WHAT YOU WRITE MAKES YOU SEEM LIKE AN IDIOT? DON'T YOU REALIZE THAT YOUR IGNORANCE MAKES ME EMBARRASSED TO BE FRIENDS WITH YOU? Now, you could say that I could just unfriend you, right? If I do, you would be insulted, and usually that would lead to a round of gossip and a can of worms. I would prefer to just rant about your ignorance on my blog to let it out and avoid that can.

PS: you know what's the worst... the nice comments. UGH it just proves that there are more idiots in the world, and it could be a link from those idiots to me. THAT WOULD BE TERRIBLE NOT ONLY FOR ME, BUT ALSO ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND ME.

Randoms: picture

I am home.
I love my dogs. hahahahaha

but i kind of miss this place. ONLY for a few minutes though.
